Planning on Having Your Dog At Your Wedding? Here's Our Guide!

Today we're going to talk about the new craze sweeping the wedding industry - dogs at weddings!

To me, a wedding is all about celebrating love. You are surrounded by the people you love the most, whether that's friends or family, to celebrate the love between you and your partner, and the joining of two families. Your dog is a huge part of your life, and of course, a beloved member of the family, so why leave them at home?

If you would love your dog at your wedding, but are worried about the logistics, we can help: -

“Who can I trust to look after my dog during my wedding?”

Usually this job lands on a family member or friend, but it means they have a big responsibility and can’t be left to just enjoy the day... they may miss out on the speeches if your dog needs a wee! The reason many turn to friends or family is trust! I’m the trustworthy but professional option. You can rest assured your dog will be safe and happy in my care, and you don’t have to burden a wedding guest with the task of being a dog-sitter! I’m an experienced dog walker and have a good understanding of canine body language and behaviour, so I can read when your dog is happy, excited or even uncomfortable during the day. I’ll be able to give them a break when they feel overwhelmed (a wedding can be a weird scary place for a dog!) Everybody’s eyes will be on you, but my main focus will be your dog!

“How on earth are we going to get our dog to pose?”

Whether your dog knows it’s basic commands or not, we can work together with your photographer to capture beautiful wedding pet pictures to suit your style. I come fully loaded with treats and toys as well as an array of interesting and different posing styles for you and your dog. Regardless of your dog’s obedience, you won’t be disappointed! Check out our ‘Guide to Posing with Pets’ blog for ideas!

Things to think about:

  • Will my dog be part of our engagement shoot?

  • Is my venue dog friendly?

  • If not, is there somewhere closeby we can go for a walk or meet for pictures?

  • Where will my dog be when I'm getting ready in the morning?

  • Do I want my dog in my 'getting ready pictures'?

  • Who will take them for a walk?

  • How will my dog get to the venue?

  • Will my dog attend the full day, just the ceremony, or just the reception?

  • Will my dog greet guests on arrival?

  • Will my dog walk down the aisle? If so, who will walk them?

  • Will they carry the rings? If so, how?

  • Do I have an outfit or any accessories for my dog? A cutom dog lead? A bandana or flower collar?

  • What type of photos of my dog do I want? Have I shared my ideas with my photographer?

  • Will my dog be part of our first dance?

  • Where is my dog staying on the evening?

  • When will my dog be fed? Who will feed them?

  • Who will make sure they are taken away from the ceremony for toilet time?

  • Who will take them home or to kennels/boarding?
